Gerard is an experienced registered nurse who has devoted his time in the profession to the health of others.
Hospital and University trained, Gerard continued to build on his professional skills and updated his qualifications to a Bachelor of Nursing in 2000. Over the last two decades, he found himself involved in meeting the needs of our local community.
It was during this time, that Gerard discovered the importance of ear hygiene. Many a time, he encountered patients who could easily have done with a simple ear assessment and possible wax removal but unfortunately, the culture for this simply did not exist. He was surprised at how difficult it was to find convenient, experienced assistance for his patients to solve often simple problems. He found there were few people who had any interest or awareness in looking after the health of the ear.
Frustrated by a lack of appropriately trained clinicians and the absence of any identifiable clinic, Gerard decided to specialise in just this discipline. He started training with an experienced audiologist to learn about ears, attended courses and completed an extensive training course in aural (ear) hygiene. He spent time with an Ear Nose & Throat specialist learning about the best methods of care for the ear canal.
Also, as a musician, educator and public speaker, Gerard is aware of the needs of particular members of the community. He is always willing to consider special needs and is flexible with the availability of his services.
Total Ear Hygiene provides a valuable link between your GP, Audiologist and ENT specialist.
